What is infrared heat?

As you know, heat transfers from one source to another. A quick science class refresher: a stove top when turned on transfers heat to boil a pot of water. That is the transference of heat. You get infrared heating from the transference of thermal/ heat energy. Infrared heating comes from radiant energy being reflected out towards your customers.

How electromagnetic waves work in infrared heaters

For infrared heaters, this energy comes from electromagnetic waves. Examples of electro waves include TV and radio waves. Infrared heating takes the radiant electromagnetic energy from our patented chromium elements and converts that energy into heat.

What role does an aluminium parabolic reflector have on infrared heating?

Using Alfresco’s patented chromium element means 94% of your electricity is converted to heat and only 6% to light, saving you energy. Our 98% pure aluminium Alfresco parabolic reflectors reflect 100% of the heat back out onto you and your guests, making our heaters energy efficient heaters.

The purity of the aluminium content is crucial in reflecting infrared energy, which in turn creates an efficient running heater. You want the highest possible aluminium content so your heater will save energy, reflect the most warmth, and at the same time have the furthest reach.

Our patented element converts 94% of the electricity to infrared heat.

A mirrored polished 98% pure aluminium reflector radiates 100% heat

Our patented chromium elements produce 94% heat and 6% light. Of the 94% electric heat that is produced, 100% of that heat is being reflected back to you and your guests which in turn gives you an energy efficient heater. As you can see, a mirrored polished 98% pure aluminium reflector is the best commercial metal to reflect infrared heat.

  1. Mirrored polished aluminium reflects the 100% of heat produced.
  2. Has a highly reflective polished surface, similar to silver or gold.

A parabolic reflector increases the heat footprint of your electric heater. The parabolic shape extends the spread of the infrared heat that our patented element produces. So, you get a wider area of coverage that saves you money and makes the heater more energy efficient.

Often, you only need a single Alfresco electric infrared indoor/ outdoor heater rather than two or more mushroom heaters.

A parabolic reflector expands the area being heated.

The purity of the aluminium content is crucial in reflecting infrared energy. The greater the purity the further forward your infrared energy is being reflected. This in turn saves you electricity and energy.

A mirrored polished 98% pure aluminium reflector gives you the highest concentration of reflected radiant heat among all the commercially affordable metals. So, you get an energy efficient heater that saves you money. You could use silver or gold. However, the price of your electric heater would be astronomical.

You save money with a mirror polished pure aluminium reflector.

Huge savings with same reflective results

As mentioned, other materials such as gold and silver are extremely expensive.  A 98% pure mirrored polished aluminium reflector gives you nearly the same reflectivity as gold and silver. So, while this is also quite expensive, you are saving huge amounts of money in terms of material costs.

You might ask why we don’t use polished steel or other commercial metals?

A steel and tin alloy reflector will not give you the same heat results as pure aluminium. Keep in mind that steel and tin absorb 50% of the electromagnetic heat energy so that warmth is lost. So, your cheaper outdoor electric heater simply cannot give you the same desired heat results. This means your cheaper heater consumes more electricity while producing far less heat.

A quality Alfresco electric indoor/ outdoor heater saves you money.

A 98% pure mirrored polished aluminium reflector, found in Alfresco’s infrared indoor/ outdoor heaters, automatically reflects 100% of the heat. Combine that with a parabolic reflector and you get 100% of the heat and a larger space covered. As an added bonus: Aluminium is rust resistant. So, your Irish made Alfresco indoor/ outdoor heater works perfectly outside.

Aluminium does not oxidize. This means you do not need to be concerned with a loss of reflectivity. You just need to wipe the reflector down occasionally: due to weather and natural debris.

Aluminium is rust resistant and a low maintenance metal.

Your Alfresco medium wavelength infrared heater is perfect to use in Ireland and Europe as it heats only solid objects like people and not the air between them and the electric heater. Wind chill may occur; however, the heat returns immediately after the gust of wind disappears. 100% of the reflected heat energy keeps your guests happy and warm, while saving you electricity. Since you are not wasting propane, your infrared heater saves you electricity and money.

Heat Returns Immediately after a Gust of Wind.

Steel and tin reflectors cost you money and time.

As mentioned, steel and tin absorb electromagnetic heat wavelengths. You lose heat. This heat loss costs you money. Besides steel and tin rust. This means you have to be concerned with your cheaper heater rusting. Since, steel and tin reflectors absorb electromagnetic heat wavelengths resulting in decreased heat performance.

The element in cheaper infrared heaters is commonly a shortwave producing element. This means you get about 50% heat and 50% light. The light created is garish and a harsh red. The reflector in these heaters reflect back out an off putting red colour which alters the appearance of the food you are serving. As a result the food looks dull, gray, and unappetizing.

98% Pure aluminium produces a clean reflection

Alfresco heaters give off a subtle light = appetizing and delicious looking food

Aluminium reflects a pure clean light. As previously mentioned, our patented elements produce 94% heat and 6% light. Of the 6% light that our patented element produces the reflected colour is natural and subtle.
The light reflected is subtle and clean. So, the food and drink you serve looks delicious and appetizing. End result: people spend more time at your establishment such as a: bar, pub, restaurant or cafe.

Low carbon footprint.

With the Alfresco infrared heater, you get an energy and cost efficient heat producing indoor/ outdoor patio heater. Our Alfresco infrared heater line-up is built using the highest quality materials. Internal cables are rated for 550V and 600C so will not disintegrate over time.  This often occurs in cheaper heaters so when replacing the element, the old cables break off and the heater is ruined.

Our electric indoor/ outdoor heaters in Ireland and Europe are environmentally sustainable. In Ireland and Europe, the infrared heater is usually powered by electricity generated sustainably.
